Credit for Increasing Research Activities
AGENCY: Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Treasury.
ACTION: Notice of proposed rulemaking and notice of public hearing.
SUMMARY: This document contains proposed regulations relating to the computation of the credit for increasing for members of a controlled group and the allocation of the credit under section 41(f) of the Internal Revenue Code. These proposed regulations are intended to provide guidance on the proper method for computing the research credit for members of a controlled group and the proper method for allocating the group credit to members of the group. These proposed regulations reflect changes to section 41 made by the Revenue Reconciliation Act of 1989 (the 1989 Act). This document also provides notice of a public hearing on these regulations.
DATES: Written or electronic comments must be received no later than April 5, 2000. Outlines of topics to be discussed at the public hearing scheduled for April 26, 2000 at 10 a.m. must be received by April 5, 2000.
